Everyone is on moderation for their first few posts until we can be sure they are legit and not scammers, or as armyguyot1 likes to say, to make sure they aren't assholes 😳
Not to worry you will be removed from the new users group when you have passed that threshold.

If you are new and make a couple posts but still can't send or receive PMs get my attention to remind me to remove you from the Newly registered list.
Hi I registered some weeks ago and I can´t send or receive messages. I posted some messages on forum.

You should be able to send and receive PM now. New members are under moderation for about 5 posts (so we can catch spammers and keep this forum spam free)

Must be weird to be a "new guy" when you've had your account for 10 years

You normally can't PM until you've made 5 posts, although that might not be the issue here.

PMs stay in the 'outbox' until they're read by the recipient, at which time they move to 'sent'

Leggy is correct. Messages stay in the outbox until read. They're delivered automatically and once read by the recipient they move from the outbox. It's not consistent with email systems but it's actually nice because you know if they've been read or not

Hi,

Haven't been on the site in a long time, seems like I am now on the Newly registered list. Would it be possible to make it so I can send and receive messages?

Thanks!

After you make about 5 posts you get PM capability. Couple more and you're there.

It's part of the anti spam strategy.

PMs stay in your outbox until the recipient has read them. That's just a quirk of the forum software.

Exactly. I like this feature but think it's bad design...

Not sure where else to post this, but I am trying to respond to PM from a user but unable to as I am new member. I have made a few posts already so hopefully that's enough to prove I am not a spam account!

A lady walks into an accountant's office and tells him that she needs to do her tax return.

The accountant says, "Before we begin, I'll need to ask you a few questions." He gets her name, address, tax file number, etc. and then asks, "What is your occupation?"

"I'm a whore," she says.

The accountant is somewhat taken aback and says, "No, No, No, that won't work. Let's try to rephrase that."

The woman says, "OK, I'm a high-end call girl."

"No, that still won't work. Try again."

They both think for a moment and the woman says, "I'm a chicken farmer."

The accountant asks, "What does chicken farming have to do with being a prostitute?"

"

Well, I raised a thousand little peckers last year."

"No worries, he says, chicken farmer it is." ;) :)

Upon creating my account and up to now, I haven't received a single email from OHW.
I figured I was stuck and would never be able to join since it required email confirmation.

But then today I tried login in again with the credentials I had used during creation. Something I would never do, but I felt why not try again since I had the tab already opened and the user/pass field auto-filled by my browser. I figured I had nothing to lose and clicked on it. Lo and behold, I was floored to see the login succeed and go through. I was allowed in... Thus confirming that the account activation happened manually at a later point, as per the first post on this thread, which i quickly found.
