No need to overthink STDs, just be smart about it. Nowadays it is pretty easy and inexpensive to get a complete panel of STD testing (including herpes). You can also get an HPV vaccine that will protect you not only from cancer but also from warts (which, btw, you are very likely to be immune to given your age... most people in their 50s have been exposed to and are immune to many strands of HPVs).
