Testosterone

Post by davecarnality » Thu Nov 06, 2025 11:55 am

Has anyone here had experience with testosterone for women? I've now seen stories of its use and effects. Some say it has increased libido dramatically, others have various results. There appears to be several products, but none are documented for efficacy. And, of course, none are covered by insurance.

Anyone?

I'd love to hear if there was a safe way to increase her sex drive but I've been skeptical.

Having had an xwife that was on it, it was a pleasant surprise when she started. I have been with a few women that told me that they were on it and their sex drive was above average. Your experience may vary.

My wife has been on it for a couple of years. I haven’t noticed anything different but she reports non-sexual benefits from it, significantly less hair loss, better sleep, better brain function. I was hoping for a turbo charged sexual behavior, as I had heard of that, but that hasn’t been the case. She has several girlfriends on it and it doesn’t sound like they are any different sexually either.

So, I have my own answer from my own experience, but it still doesn't provide proof.
I had asked a similar question, and the answer I got was that it wouldn't cause any changes sexually.
the main reason for my wife to get on Hormone Replacement Therapy was for health reasons, not sexual reasons. Although I hoped that could be a possible benefit.
To make a long story short. She has been on HRT for probably around 9+ months I'm guessing. Various adjustments to her dosage. Here are the changes: 1) she feels better and has less hormonal mood swings. She feels in control of her emotional state. 2) her pussy is definitely as wet as it's ever been when aroused. 3)we might be having the best sex of our life. She is definitely into the hotwife fantasy roleplay. Absolutely loves getting pounded by a big dildo. Wants more sex then she ever has.

So, one might want to jump to the conclusion that it makes her a bigger sexual beast. But, maybe it's just because the balanced hormones in her body has made her feel better. And when you feel good and not depressed, perhaps that allows you to relax, be more adventurous and enjoy sex more? So, maybe the HRT isn't making her hornier, it's just allowing her to flourish as she would normally because she feels good.

Or, maybe HRT does make her hornier....... 🤔

🤷🏻‍♂️

For the record, most HRT for women does not include testosterone. It may but it is not typical.

So, hwlurker88, did her HRT include testosterone? To my knowledge, my wife's HRT does not.

Either way, hwlurker88, that's a big win.

And the primary purpose of the therapy: to make her feel better.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I have a friend who took testosterone specifically to increase her libido. It worked, and she was very happy with it.

Susan and I are both on hormone replacement therapy which is testosterone for me and testosterone for Susan.

It’s an amazing experience. We both get pellets inserted.

Sex is off the charts ..Susan wants sex once or twice a day.

Yes. She takes estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. (and maybe other things as well 🤷🏻‍♂️) Various levels of each to get her into what should be a "normal" range. What dosages and frequency and all the technical details, I don't know. She also was on some iron supplements for a while too. I just support her in this menopause process and have been reaping some fun benefits as well. Such a horny woman now! 🤣

Again, I'm not making any claims as to the reason why. I'm not a doctor, but I feel as though I should have been a surgeon.... 🤔 😂

Mark. I have had my T levels bouncing around towards the lower limits of normal for about 5 years. I feel like my working out has helped me stay in the "green", but the doctors said I could easily go on HRT. To put it bluntly, my hair is already thinning, I'm too nervous that it will cause the rest to fall out very quickly if I got on the T. It would potentially increase the DHT that is causing my hair thinning. So, my question. Where you thinning with your hair, and if so, did you notice any type of accelerated hair loss? While I am sure we are nothing alike genetically, it's always nice to get real life feedback versus always using Google searches. Thanks!

No, I did not notice any accelerated hair loss from T, but years ago after I quit using Rogaine I experienced accelerated hair loss.

I read about this in the NYT a few weeks ago. It seems that a high amount of T replacement in women had both good and bad effects. The good: a sex drive of a teenaged boy, more energy and focus in daily life. The bad: hair loss on top of the head, increased hair on the upper lip and thighs, some women had a deepening of their voices. A more moderate replacement of T gave the women a healther sex drive without the other unpleasant side effects. There was no mention about long term effects regarding replacement T therapy. I passed the article on to my wife, hoping that she would pursue this with her OB/GP. I'll take anything that will increase her sex drive as it has decreased considerably post menopause.

My wife goes to a specialized hormone treatment clinic. There is a serious rabbit hole a person can go down if one wants to debate Healthcare. In the end, just make sure you are dealing with someone that you and your wife can feel good about taking this journey with. For us, working with a general MD just wasn't providing the feeling of expertise that we desired. This one provided more comprehensive testing and more customized HRT using a compounding pharmacy. Again, I have my own serious issues with the Healthcare system and can't say that I will ever feel 100% great about navigating it. I am only advocating that you find someone you feel is an expert in this field and provides you the piece of mind that they are testing and interpreting and treating the issues in a systematic way and not just throwing perscription drugs at it to see what sticks.

Wishing it had that effect on my wife! After menopause, she had no sex drive. She says HRT with testosterone increased her sex drive some so she is interested once a week or so, but nothing like everyday. Oh well. Luckily, it does make her feel better overall, which is great!
