Hi Skoot, the ownership and bills for the PA28 are shared with Tony, the idea being that is a plane 'that can go somewhere' for weekends away etc, this is being led by Tony as this was his idea and hobby for years. I am a long way off being able to fly it, except in company of an instructor. It would mean I don't have the expense of hiring a school plane now and employing the instructor directly, much cheaper and to my diary. Tony has been qualified on GA aircraft for years, and says it's more interesting and challenging than the big stuff.
The Stinson is a whim, something I fancied as a 'local' plane again shared with Tony, However, it hasn't been purchased yet. Even Tony would have to do a course to allow him to fly as it has a rear pivot wheel, hence 'tail dragger' as most WW2 and later planes were. It's slow but fun and almost non tech.
It's not particularly buying them that is expensive, it's the maintenance "MOT'ing them that costs and strictly controlled. The group that we've joined runs the large barn/hangar in the Sussex countryside where everyone's planes are stored, and the farmer has a licensed grass runway.
An 'aero' mechanic, for want of a better title, maintains them. he is qualified through CAA , been doing this for years through his own company, him and a partner. Keeps him busy and wealthy, although his charges are lower. It also saves going to Shoreham fro servicing etc. As for the flying, it is all consuming, addictive and actually fantastic. Take off is fun, landing - terrifying, even Tony sweats when he lands GA planes. Dawn has convinced me that I can't take it with me... so I'll enjoy being 'in my money'. Hope this helps.

Mark; Well, I almost became the full owner of a white 1988 300SL. I have yet to drive it. Years ago I bought Dawn and myself 2 personalised number plates each, we both have one on retention and the other on our cars, and as a good guy, I’m waiting for the nod from DVLA to apply Dawns spare number to the SL. So close, yet….. Though, I have the spare keys, so when I’m finished here I’m taking the car for a drive on my own.
Nearly got caught with the the lovely Lisa in my office by the head of admin/accounts who had to break the good/bad news. Lynn's really lovely, but we had to sit down and go through dry old final figures before submission to Board and then to HMRC. I think that you will only get about 10% usage of the 300SL, especially once Dawn gets her personalised number plate on it.
It was heartening to hear that Tony admitted his dalliance with Liz, good to know he is open and honest with you and Dawn. I think he will be more careful if the opportunity is presented to him again.

Mark; This week has been good so far, Tuesday did my solo after 16 hours, later than most but I had been chickening out a bit. Anyway did a good flight then a circuit, nice greasy landing, feeling good. We came to a stop, I wasn't expecting this, instructor got out and said,’off you go’ gave me my instructions and walked away, leaving me doing my goldfish impression. I love the take offs, so thrilling, the landings - terrify me, now do it on my own. I did. The instructors were pissing themselves laughing and had a straw poll on how many times I'd bounce. Twice actually. Not the best. But I’ve done it. I’ll start the lessons in our plane in the next few weeks once it’s had the once over and serviced. It’ll be the same instructor. Huge, gas guzzling, van with windows, which would never see a blade of grass. Did I want to ‘rent’ (PCP) it, sir. The sir bit was surly and grating like hell. No my company would buy it outright, I was the boss and he’d never work there, ever. I made sure he and his manager realised, ‘people buy from people’ and I wouldn’t be buying from ‘him’ and why.
Anyway, I left. I bought a new Mercedes S Class 350d AMG with loads of toys, Gold, with cream interior, privacy glass, soo classy and so fucking horny. I’m like a dog with 2 tails. Waiting for delivery date. Better ride than the Range Rover, easier to drive and I felt 10 feet tall. The Merc guys, who knew me from the current car, were so good and gave me a cracking deal on my old one. This is a whole different car. Dawn will go nuts. She suggested, grovelly grovelly, that perhaps Tony and I would like to go to Mike The G man’s (Government) party. Err no. Is she pimping now. I don’t want to get involved with him or her other playmates, I’d rather be in the shadows (great music). Now she’s roping Cheryl into it, but I think that would actually be a great idea, certainly for Cheryl. Coral, she of the wild hair and the gap in her front teeth, oh yes and big tits, is about to rule the party roost again, organising the goings on. No I’ll keep out of it and keep rampant Tony at bay.
Speaking of Mike, as well as the car and other benefits, he gave Dawn an inch thick A3 envelope in which it laid out a summary of his business with the other law firm. For British cars, I prefer the Aston Martin to the Range Rover. Here’s a question, how many “anyone who is anyone drives a Range Rover” people own their own plane? Not too many. I think owning your plane gets you further up the Totem pole. Besides, isn’t Formula 1 (F1) the pinnacle of motor sports, I can’t see the Range Rover being sportier enough to be ever be in F1, unlike Mercedes-AMG, Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin who are.
As for the child care centre, it sounds there is other opportunities at various business/industry estates within the area. The stress of having to get your kid(s) to the child centre then to work can be high in morning. The ability to drop your child off at the child care centre and do a short walk to work is a huge stress reliever in the morning.

Mark for me it was a choose between x5 Merc or Q5/Q7 in the past i had 2 Mercedes and 2 BMW
Both BMW and Merc salesman treated me like poo, even with pre booing I still as given old cars off the lot to test drive
The Audi salesman, nice chap did his job well,(I work in sales so know the process) was about to buy Q5 sports, I was not 100% with the bucket seats at which point he down sold me to the s-line which was just what we wanted, I know where I will be going for me replacement
Really happy for you that the child care centre is working well, after all the council BS, my DIL gave up work because of the hassle of 2 kids, poor NHS manager, long commute 40 miles each way, ok they could afford the droop of income, you have just taken the stress out of the process it will make working in your communities of businesses a major factor in staff hiring and retention

Mark; Hi guys, My bit is quite short, then I’ll hand you over to Dawn, she has much more to tell you. My side is a lot more pedestrian, yes I have been seeing Lisa and it has been great, mainly early evening in the office or car. Business good but a bit slower, looking at getting an office furniture company, James idea, he’s still pissed off at his old company and the way they treated him. Vengeance and all that.
Flying is soo good, really enjoying it but having to be careful not to get over-confident. Will be starting to use my/our plane soon, instructor’s happy.
Very wet weather and I got the car bogged down on the grass airstrip, but may need an old Land Rover after all, Don’t mention to Dawn of course, just between us.
On the subject of cars; Had a stroke of luck, I rang to ask when’s my car coming? 4-6 months they forgot to mention that, so I did the wounded martyr bit, they rang round and found a similar car in gold (colour not the metal) which is what I wanted, but with honey coloured interior instead of cream, 3,500 miles on the clock, 6 month old demonstrator to a dealership in Scotland (MD’s used it really, but don’t tell the taxman), loads more toys. Everyone needs infra red vision don’t they? There are some stupid ideas, - £21k less, so I bit their hand off. Getting it in 2 weeks and same deal on mine.
Other than old domestic info that’s all for me. Roger the rogerer, has been up to see Dawn and discussed putting a garden kitchen/bbq in near the tub, and the old question of a pool came up again. Keeping out of this at the. moment. Dawn took full advantage of course. I watched it unfolding on cctv by the tub, she has a lovely arse.
