Yes. Systemic (pill) estrogen has not been as good for relieving vaginal dryness in my experience. Creams strike me as too messy.

I have had very good results with two products: Vagifem, which is a small pill inserted into the vagina twice weekly, and Estring, a small ring inserted into the vagina as well and replaced every three months.

Both these products deliver small amounts of estrogen (actually estradiol) locally to the vaginal tissue. With it, I lubricate quite readily and never have pain due to dryness or thin tissue. Because the amount of hormone is so small, you don't have the side effects associated with oral estrogen, and you don't need to take progesterone because the dose is so small and doesn't circulate.
