Yes. There is a refractory period for almost all men. Consider the possibility that it was not evolved to protect the woman's pussy but to allow other men to take their turn adding their sperm to the genetic mix. To your questions: Stamina was an issue for me and if she ordered me to do it harder, I couldn't because I was not able to get any momentum going.
