I have been giving advice to couples and individuals for a few years now and, over that time, I have counselled quite a few. I think a lot of young women, especially students, do things their parents would be shocked to learn about - stripping, pole dancing etc - and the line between that and selling sex can become blurred. Some women view occasionally selling your body (or allowing it to be used in exchange for ‘benefits’ such as having your rent paid) as something other than prostitution, maybe becoming temporary mistresses etc. The sort of approach you hear is ‘I’m a slut, not a prostitute, but yes, I’ve accepted money for sex. It’s fun and I enjoy it so to be rewarded is a bonus’.

Most of us have done things that would have disappointed our parents. But if you're not accumulating secrets, you're probably not having fun and enjoying life.

I agree with you about blurred lines and rationalizing behavior.

Prostitution should be legal because it's a gross infringement on right to privacy. It's not about sex. It's about how far we'll tolerate government to invade our privacy. If an adult man and adult woman agree to a business contract in private that involves only them, should we permit government to invade that privacy? Once the camel's nose (government) is under the tent (a bedroom), what expectation of privacy do we have?

Public prostitution (street walkers) should remain illegal because it's exposed to children and could influence them. If the world's oldest profession is practiced in the privacy of homes, it should be beyond government's purview. Government must stay our of our bedrooms.

I agree that women soliciting sex on streets place themselves in danger. If prostitution were legal and prohibited in public, women would be able to thoroughly vet their clients, and they could practice their profession in the safety of their homes.

I'm not sure whether you live in the USA. In the USA, murder is a capital crime. A victim's status does not determine law enforcement response. Murder of a prostitute is murder, not murder of a prostitute.

Seattle PD and the county sheriff spent fortunes on catching the Green River Killer in Washington. Gary Ridgway is suspected or murdering over 100 women, most of whom were prostitutes. Since the first victim was discovered, cops never stopped working those murders. I believe Ridgway murdered women before DNA was perfected. After years of nonstop searching and tens of millions of dollars invested in finding the murderer, cops had enough evidence to arrest and convict him. As far as I know, he's still in prison.

I watched another documentary on LA's Hillside Strangler. From memory alone, 2 LA psychopaths picked up prostitutes in LA and murdered them. The victims' profession did not influence LAPD. LAPD created a Hillside Strangler task force. Cost was not a consideration. Catching two murderers was their objective. LAPD spend a fortune on locating and arresting the murderers. My understanding in the UK is that prostitution is legal, but a brothel is not, ie, a person can sell sex, but there can be no third party taking a cut.

We actually agree with the whole posting.
Streetwalking is too dangerous nowadays and was never completely safe, but Lily did it for quite while,
before switching to being a High Stool Hooker in Hotel Bars, which was a lot safer
