Absolutely it can be a kink. It can also be the legitimate need to relive a painful life event, but in a safer way with someone who loves the man, and not ruining his life like the bitch who actually cheated on him did. My husband had this exact issue. So, I "cheated" on him. It was something we agreed to that he wasn't going to know in advance who when where or how I would be with another man, but it WOULD happen, and when he least expected it. If he caught me by finding clues, then I'd admit to it, or he might walk in on me, or catch me somehow, doing the deed.
