I think there are a lot of positives to your story:

1. It's true. There are several threads on here, some of them rather long, where I question the veracity. That's fine, but it's not of interest to me.

2. It brings something different to the table. I'm just as interested in the psychological interactions between you and your wife.

3. It is very well written and analytical... although this point is very similar to 2.

Personally, I think you are taking the long road, which may never lead to your Nirvana. Your efforts to making this work organically are admirable and interesting. But dating is difficult once one gets past the mid-twenties, as most have settled down and are not looking for a relationship. Dating in the context of your specific situation must be near impossible. If you both really wanted to make this happen, you need to create a profile on one of the dedicated dating sites and actively work it. I understand that there are risks with this approach but they could be mostly mitigated. However, as I mentioned before, I don't think that SW would agree to that, as my feeling is that she's actually just not into the lifestyle you crave.

However best wishes to you both and I hope that one day you both find something to enjoy. In the meantime, just enjoy the journey.

So we were on a ski trip and New Year's Eve party within it, returned late Tuesday night.

SW elected not to ski but was approaching this as a social time. More or less snowed it, but we were staying at a friend's large ski house with many other guests. So it was pretty much an ongoing party.
