There's a longstanding rule that one shouldn't post clickable links to other sites in the public-facing forums (the ones you can see when you aren't logged in). If you obfuscate the links a bit, it's generally fine.

To me, the intent matters: if it starts to look like promotion, marketing, or spam, that gets my hackles up.

Has anyone ever considered the idea of embedding a chat directly into the forum? I’ve seen this on alike boards and this way everything would remain inside this community. I’m not suggesting anything in particular just bringing ideas to the table, but I imagine this would put additional effort on moderators’shoulder

I'd be curious what extension or software other board admins are using for that, but: I don't want to change the overall dynamic of the site, which has worked well for nearly 20 years. I'm a new site admin, and I'd want to proceed with caution. Let's see how the new 'like' button goes over first, shall we?

When I first joined OHW back in 2010 there was an active chat room on this site. It was fun getting to know other users, especially the ones with Blue Usernames.

Apparently it was very high maintenance for the moderators and they finally discontinued it.

With Consensual Non Monogamy being such a common interest for so many of us, it would sure be wonderful if that element of communication could one day be restored.

@Mr1 Thanks for confirming my memory of that time. I distinctly recall sitting in a bar while chatting online with other cucks. This would have been in the 2005 - 2009 timeframe.
