Like button feedback

Unread post by leggysman »

Let us know whether you are in favour.

I've turned off some of the more prominent features of this extension (ratings, showing it in the user's profile block, etc) to try and keep it unobtrusive.

I worry slightly that people won't bother replying in threads, opting to click this instead - to the detriment of the feedback to the forum and its contributors.

OTOH I frequently enjoy posts, but don't have anything meaningful to add, and therefore don't post a reply or give any feedback.

Thanks for adding this. There have been so many times that I enjoy/learn something from reading a post but don't have really anything meaningful to add in a reply. So I appreciate there's now an alternate way to show appreciation.

LM
- I like the idea and just used it for the first time.
- I do not understand what's actually occurring though. I clicked the icon and it changed to thumb down. It didn't 'count', at least nothing I could see. I was figuring it might change colour or keep flashing so others scrolling by might notice it. So a bit confounded TBH.

It puts a little notice at the bottom of the post, about who liked it. And, the author also gets a notification.

The thumbs-down is how you can remove your like from a post.

I've never liked like buttons

I think they make some people write more than what happened, just to get the most likes.

Well as most thing has positive side and bad ones, most people don't even comment/reply to topics even after thousands of visits; at least if they don't feel to answer can show some appreciation. On the other side, this surely doesn't improve interaction among us all, like comments or opinion exchange.
