Hello,
Thank you for having this amazing site!
In perusing the Hotties section, I have to keep signing in when going to the next page in a thread, even after checking "Keep me signed in".
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.
Rob

Re: Signing in
You should not have to log in over and over.
Re: Signing in
This has been happening to me too, although I thought it might have something to do with switching to the Brave browser with Tor.
It'll keep happening numerous times over the course of several minutes (while an admin is clearing session cookies?), and can even happen in the middle of a page load - so that some images at the beginning of the page load, and later ones won't.

Re: Signing in
We have been under constant attack and sometimes more than others. This seems to come from Asia but having to double hit to post or hit back and then forward sometimes as some posts are very slow and depending on what day and time.
Re: Signing in
Everybody who runs a site is under constant attack. That's just the way the internet is.
To the best of my knowledge, my own forum was being scanned by the same badly-behaved AI scraper bots as this one was, and I showed chris how to (crudely) block them. I could give him a couple more pointers to fine-tune it. Everything's under control for me.
This site seems to have some software problems that could probably be solved with a bit of maintenance work.

Re: Signing in
I'm having the constant need to log in on almost every page turn too. Also every time I comment it times out. It posts but times out.
And logs me out!
And logs me out!
Re: Signing in
Site was offline completely for most of the 30th.

Re: Signing in
There were a couple of issues at the hosting provider yesterday, but armyguy sorted those out.
There will be some site maintenance over the next few days; expect some occasional, temporary (hopefully short!) downtime

Test post
Almost finished with the upgrades. Sorry for any inconvenience caused!

Re: Signing in
I’m getting invalid sign in many many times. Sometimes you can navigate around to “trick” it with your saved username and password, but after 10 tries I usually just X it out and try again later. What’s up with that?
Re: Signing in
I get this too. Seems like only when I'm using a Tor browser, but I think the reason is it's a bit slower. I did a little bit of research that turned up some PhpBB settings relating to timings in session cookie generation. I'll try to figure out what might work better, test it out on another site, and if that works I'll ask armyguyot1 to change the settings here.
Re: Signing in
This is the only site that I’ve encountered this calling my sign in credentials invalid. Could be because of the safari browser on my iPhone. I’ve had problems way in the past because of it.
Re: Signing in
There are cookie security settings that we can change. Do you suspect that your IP changes regularly? Are you using the phone's iCloud Private Relay (VPN-like thing)? In my case I'm using Brave with Tor, so my IP address changes regularly. That's a factor in the session cookie security.
Re: Signing in
I’ve got an older iPhone 12 max, and I don’t think the Ip changes. I have seen a Private Relay announcement when it goes out, so I guess I’ve got that. This is intermittent, but it’s kicked me off and then say it’s invalid when I try to sign back in. Grrr
Re: Signing in
We made a change to the cookie security settings. It's primarily for changing IP addresses, but that might help if you're using the private relay. Can you let us know whether things seem any better?
Re: Signing in
I just tried to send you a message and it apparently kicked me off while composing and here I am sending it again
Re: Signing in
If you get this message this will be the first time in a long time I have successfully logged in. This has been going of for months for me. I have not been able to post
Re: Signing in
Yes, it happened to me once today (so far). We only loosened the cookie IP restriction for now though, so I think my Tor switching IPs pretty randomly is still going to catch me out.Jujube wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 6:09 am I just tried to send you a message and it apparently kicked me off while composing and here I am sending it again
There is one other cookie setting I read about that might relate to older iphones. I'll look into that a bit more.
Re: Signing in
We made the other change I mentioned above. Please let us know whether that helped.Jujube wrote: Wed Apr 01, 2026 6:09 am I just tried to send you a message and it apparently kicked me off while composing and here I am sending it again
Re: Signing in
Okay. I haven’t had any problems so far today, and I’ve noticed that submitting comments is faster and the search feature has improved significantly. We’ll see. It seems to work well for a time, then reverts back. Hopefully things have been fixed.
Re: Signing in
We've been doing things to shore up the site. Updating all the software, blocking the bots that were bringing the server to its knees, and getting the settings sorted (e.g. search).
Search should work nearly all the time now, unless the server really is under heavy load. Google spidering can sometimes hit pretty hard.
The one thing that's still bugging me is that the server can only send email notifications sporadically. It looks as though somebody has blacklisted our site for email, although I randomly receive some, on rare occasions.

Re: Signing in
I get notifications on new comments on threads I follow pretty seamlessly, albeit a little time lagged. Congrats on all these new improvements! Things have greatly improved all around, and I’m grateful to all you deep-tech savvy guys for making it work!
Re: Signing in
Leggysman, it’s really bad today. Finally got on to send you this message. It then kicked me off when I tried to send it. This is my 2nd attempt
Re: Signing in
Hi, have you seen the other post about deleting all your OHW cookies?
