In recent months, someone (I personally believe it's Meta/Facebook) have come at all of these forums extra-hard, with a distributed scraper bot attack that is completely without regard for how much load/damage they inflict, in their insatiable desire to fluff their AI chatbot credentials.

Fuck them. When this absurd 'AI' bubble implodes we'll all suffer, but I refuse to let OHW burn to ashes as one of their hapless victims in the meantime. As long as I'm in charge, this site will do whatever it takes to survive their selfish, stupid antics.

But to reiterate what I wrote earlier: we need this. Without bot protection, this site probably wouldn't be here for you at all. With our limited, user-supported resources, we just can't handle a million scrapers scouring the site each day, quite simply.

I understand, I am admin for a sort of related site. We are currently behind Cloudflare and are having far less of a problem. My biggest issue has been the link spammers.
