How common do you think the fantasy is among men?

I've heard various studies/polls give percentages of between 10-60% of men having fantasies of their wife/girlfriend with other guys.
I wanted to try a poll of my own, I posted on a (not sex or kink related) forum of mostly married women asking if their husband was turned on by it and was surprised by the results.
"Don't knows" (12%) excluded, 40% of the women "know" that their husband is turned on by it and another 14% "suspect" that he is.
That's more than 50% and the real figure is likely to be higher if you include guys that haven't realised it's a turn on or are keeping it a secret.
Is this a red herring? Or is this what you would expect?

I personally believe that most (if not all) guys are capable of developing the fantasy if they're put in particular situations and/or given particular experiences. How many would agree with that?

I think it is rather common. I would say 20-40% have at least thought about it. Now, the fantasy becoming a reality I would say is probably less than 10% by a large margin, but fantasy wise, I think many men have considered it hot

I think most men are too insecure, or too macho to consider it. I know that my friends who know my wife has had lovers on the side, do not get my being ok with it. I am more than ok. A friend who we had a threesome with was going to a convention out of town with another guy, and asked my wife to join them. She agreed, I was looking forward to it, he eventually chickened out. The thought of her spending the weekend being between 2 men has fueled many fantasies on my end, and still drives me wild so many years later.

“About 9% of men said they would share their partner, versus 5% of women interested in such a relationship, according to the report in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.”

However it will be interesting to see what this poll shows. I suspect it will be slanted and show a higher number because we are all on this site for a reason.

I think the fantasy is pretty universal since, according to the book 'Sex at Dawn', we are wired that way.

Of course, society's rules say otherwise so few will act on it and fewer will admit to it, even to themselves.

I saw an interesting poll on a swinger site (admittedly, a skewed sample) in which men were asked if they preferred
1. Having sex with other women
2. Seeing their wives have sex with other men
3. They liked them equally.

Adding those who preferred their wives with other men and those who enjoyed both scenarios equally amounted to about 85% or 7/8 of the pollsters.
Only about 1/8 of the pollsters were not interested in their wives' adventures.

I found this particularly interesting because I had previously observed a 7:1 ratio in a number of (non sexual) gender preferences.
ie. 7/8 men might be interested in something or demonstrate a characteristic but only 1/8 women would.
7/8 women might be interested in something or demonstrate a characteristic but only 1/8 men would.

If this rule of thumb holds true here, then possibly 1/8 of women entertain cucquean fantasies. Who knew?
Will I ever get the opportunity to conduct a controlled study to verify this? I doubt it.

Indeed, I imagine the sample set here cannot be taken as representative of the whole population.

It’s apparently quite common to have this fantasy but to consistently have this fantasy is more likely in the 10 % ballpark.

In the past couple of years, I've read in several places that cuckold porn is the 2nd most searched for category (after girl on girl). I have no idea how that might actually translate into real numbers for the purpose of this thread.
