How would you feel about your own lifestyle if you discovered that your father, brother, or another close person is also a cuck, and how would you react?

I have absolutely no desire to know anything about the sex lives of those close to me, either friends or family. I did find out that my mother was cheating on my [then] stepfather several decades ago, and that was very, very difficult for my [half] sister and i to deal with. My mother and stepfather eventually reconciled, but they divorced years later. One of the reasons that my sister was so psychologically damaged by her childhood [i know she eventually got therapy and is happily married with children now, but we have had no contact for decades] is that my mother could not set boundaries in terms of what she shared with her children, thinking, 'oh they are adults, or almost adults, and they can hear about all of my issues, both romantic and non-romantic'.

Not all details about a person's life need to be shared. Not all that happens needs to be broadcast.

For many years, my step mother would spend 1 weekend per month visiting her brother with mental issues. My dad told me she's been having sex with him since they were kids. At least he waited until after her passing to tell me but that's an image burned into my mind.

Well, Adam, Danny's brother from the thread "Young Married Guy Here" by RunDannyRun doesn't approve of it. I think the thrill/disdain here is more about being "outed" (ie made public). If you KNOW that your father or brother is cuck, then it's out. Once the knowledge is out there it becomes a topic of scrutiny not only judged by "lifestyle" advocates but by the monogamous world too.

Not everyone has the mental toughness to endure that kind of scrutiny. Lots of people that post on this site leave (or stop posting) from the extreme negative responses. Even among the non monogamous lifestylers there isn't consensus on specific behaviors, boundaries or implementation.

As traumatic as it is for a family member to announce to their family that they are gay, I would imagine that announcing/admitting that you have an FLR/Cuckold/hot wife lifestyle is even more difficult for the monogamous to understand. Let's be real about this. This ISN'T about what other lifestylers think. It's about what the monogamous world thinks.

I agree with LawyerWouldbeCuckold. There are unanticipated negative reactions that can have devastating affects. If you think politics are bad about dividing families, then alternative lifestyles is even more divisive when thrown into the "World Court of Approval". Some things should be held in confidence. Not everyone's mind is ready or capable of being open minded enough to equitably rationalize the situation. They have their own biases and their own individual experiences that guide their thoughts. You can't control that.

In this case, Adam's reaction is what I imagine most family members would have, "What the fuck is wrong with you!?!", or, "Are you some kind of pervert?", or at best, "You need counseling!" Some men do however crave this anguish obviously. They have prioritized mental/emotional stimulation as a route to physical sexual stimulation. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that others will agree, and in the attempt of others to reconcile it, they may react in totally unpredictable ways that are more likely to be negative.

Coastalkid, you are not a lawyer, you need to think about law school. Your phrasing and communication, especially about this subject, is nothing short of brilliant....at least, IMHO.

And you verbalized a great deal of what I was thinking. Where I think you scored a DIRECT HIT was your observation that it's not what lifestylers think, it's what the monogamous world thinks. And let's face it.....the vast majority of folks are monogamous. [Not necessarily monogamous and happy with their situation, but you see my point].

Once it is out of the bag, other people have difficulty thinking of you in any other way, the image of that sex floating across their mental cinema screen, however irrelevantly. They may well drift away.

Ofc OP had in mind that he would without publicity discover his dad or brother being cuckolded. If that remains private, it is different. OP would inevitably feel different about them following the revelation - and about his mum and sister in law. Perversely he may feel cross about it despite the fact that he is doing the same himself.

My father in law has been a cuckold (in the classic sense) for three decades. Wife became aware that her mother was having an affair in her teens but nobody ever spoke of it. Still never have.
