I don't really travel much for my job. There's maybe personal development stuff and conferences I can go to, but those aren't really week long events and I'd have to kick in out-of-pocket. Here's why it's not going to happen though:

1. I have a good job. Even though I could get a job someplace else, it would fuck up my career path to do something like this. Especially when we wouldn't even know for sure how long we'd be staying in our new home. Would it be just until Brian is done with his program? Maybe longer if he gets a good job placement near his school. What if he gets a good job offer in a completely different place when he's done with school?

2. Jen would have to put off college. Tuition is really affordable at the state college she's planning on attending here. If we move, it may not only be too late to get her into college right away in our new locale, but there's also the issue of residency. It could cost too much money to attend college until she's established residency. Then after that, it's at least four years of college. But, remember, we don't even know for sure how long Brian is looking to be there, so that could put Jen's plans on hold even longer.

3. It's really expensive where Brian is moving. Cost of living is pretty crazy compared to where we live now. That would put an even bigger strain on everything.

4. Jen and I have family and friends here.

5. Jen and I like where we live.

If circumstances were different, maybe I'd just say fuck it and try to make it happen. But, it looks like this idea is just going to have to be a fantasy.
