Our dog is getting along in years. SW said she didn't want to leave the dog for more than six hours so insisted at the last minute that I get a room for us at a dog-friendly hotel, on the water. She had invited Mr. B and we both really expected him to attend by himself. So on Sunday night, SW picked a fight with me and ended up binge watching some Netflix program and staying up until around 4:00 a.m. drinking wine, etc. This was a bad sign.

On Monday morning, she said that I should attend by myself, that she was tired and still unhappy from our fight, etc. So I did.

I checked into the hotel, incredulous that this great hotel room is going to waste, and went out to the waterside bar for a drink. I also called my daughter and her husband to join us on the boat party. They know Mr. B and also Ms. R. from our social events. The five of us (me, my daughter and her husband, and Mr. B and Ms. R) hung out on the waterfront bar for about an hour. It was a beautiful afternoon and Mr. E eventually brought his boat to the guest dock and we were welcomed aboard. There were about 30 people in total on his boat. We then tied up with another boat in the middle of the harbor, and celebrated the day with music, tequila, dancing, etc.

At about 7:00 p.m. SW called me and I picked up. She was in a much more solicitous mood, and apologized for the trouble. She then insisted I come home after the party, because there was no reason for me to stay in the hotel by myself overnight. I agreed, and transitioned to drinking water as the night ended.

She said that I should make a gift of the hotel room to Mr. B and Mr. R, so that they may enjoy themselves. And so I did.

It was just a bit awkward, showing the lovebirds the hotel room, grabbing my stuff, and handing over the room keys. Mr. B chuckled and said:

"It's too bad SW isn't here, we could then take advantage of the room and have a foursome."

Ms. R didn't object or say anything.

I said that it is not out of the question for me, and that the limiting factor would be SW. I also added that SW may just enjoy it, in that time has shown she does prefer unusually tall men.

I was ready to start your initial suggestion (above) last night but decided to at least give her a day or two before starting with it all.

Yes, I've already reached my conclusion on that one. Pinky has returned in strong force.

We went on Saturday night over to outdoorsy place on the lake, about 25 min drive around the lake, to attend the birthday party of SW's friend. It was a warm summer evening, just full of promise.

Continuing from where I left off.

The few remaining in our group (three girls, one guy and also me) also scanned for SW. They also saw her seated with the two guys, and of course automatically looked quizzically at me. We further learned that Mr. Ed lives here in the Midwest six months of the year, and back in Croatia the balance of the time. That he has an ex-wife and daughter here in the U.S. I thanked Pinky for the introduction and explanation and went back to our group to fill them in on the updates.

I looked back to where I last saw Pinky with the Croatians and they were not to be seen. Dan Marino guy and his girl asked me what happened to my wife. I then heard her calling me from across the property, by the entrance, saying "Come on, we're going downtown." Dan Marino guy and his girl noted that they would be down for joining us but they had arrived via boat and had no transportation. I bid them a goodbye, etc. and jogged up to Pinky and her new friends.

I reminded everyone that the parking lot is in the back, not the front, of this place. Mr. Dd said that's a good thing, that there is usually a cop car at the front looking for inebriated drivers. Mr. Ed and Mr. Dd then started a debate as to who would drive Mr. Ed's big SUV, since they both had been drinking a lot. I said I would be happy to drive, wanting to have some level of control over the situation. I then realized that Pinky and I would be in some stranger's car, heading who knows where, and essentially having no control. I had to come up with a solution. I said I would drive our car, and we all moved over to our car, to depart. Mr. Dd in the front seat next to me, with Pinky and Mr. Ed in the back seat.

Just then, Pinky said her phone is missing from her bag. That she has to find it. She bailed out of the car and the two guys went with her, to find the phone. I sat for a bit and then turned off the car to assist. I knew that none of these three would be able to find the phone. I then ran headlong into Mama Bear who said her bag (purse) had gone missing. She was kind of freaking out. We asked the bartenders, the manager, etc. about a lost bag and a phone. No luck. Dan Marino guy and his girl, still there, said that they hadn't seen the items and further observed that the boat docks had been locked down and they would have to take an Uber home, and retrieve their boat in the morning.

Pinky and the Croatian guys were wandering around aimlessly, and then gave up and returned to our car. I made one last sweep of the place and did find both the phone and the bag, on a high-top table way over by the entrance. Told the bartenders and manager that all was solved, and also Dan Marino guy and his girl. These two asked if we were really still going downtown and I said yes. They asked if they can go with us. She leaned over to me and said "You might want to have additional brawn with you if going downtown with these Croatian guys." Problem solved!

I leaned into my car and informed that we had two additional participants. That Dan Marino and his girl will drive Mr. Ed's car, with Mr. Ed inside, and that Pinky and I will drive our car, with Mr. Dd inside. And off we went!
